FAQS

Stand-Up Paddleboarding or SUP is a super fun water sport where you stand on a large, stable, surfboard using a long, specialized paddle to propel yourself through the water. Though its roots date to ancient Polynesia, it started taking shape as a sport in the 1960s & exploded in the early 2000s starting first in Hawaii then spreading to Southern California where local surfers like Pro SUP founder Mike Vaughan became ambassadors to the sport helping spread it’s nationwide popularity. The sport combines elements of surfing & paddling, offering a versatile experience that can be enjoyed on virtually any body of water from oceans to rivers & lakes or ponds.

While not required since stand-up paddleboarding is not a difficult sport, it is a lot more fun when you know what you’re doing so we recommend taking our fun and informative Beginner SUP class before renting & exploring on your own. This introductory class covering the basic techniques is taught by our WPA-certified Instructors who will help you get up and comfortable on your board in no time improving your overall experience while also reducing the chance of injury or damage to gear.
If you prefer to rent without a lesson, ask us for a brief demonstration on the sand before you get on the water.
